Carpet Guide

Franeys Carpet One Floor & Home in Visalia is your local source for all things carpeting. With one of the region’s finest selections of quality carpets and area rugs, we’re also expert floor installers, with over six decades’ of experience under our collective belts.

Soft, comforting, and stylish, carpeting remains one of the most popular flooring options on the market today, and with good reason. When it comes to available colors, patterns, styles, and textures, the sky is truly the limit with today’s carpeting, and there are most likely a number of attractive options to suit your personal style and needs. For example, a luxurious shag carpet is a great option for areas that don’t get a lot of foot traffic; whereas, a tough and enduring frieze carpet might be a better option for busy households with pets and young children. Carpets are woven using a number of materials, including nylon or wool.

Expert Advice - Choosing a Carpet Style

Jim Aaron, our VP of Merchandising for Carpet One Floor & Home, shares some information on the different carpet styles that are available.

What Are the Different Types of Carpet?

When choosing a new carpet, you should factor in things such as wearability and how often you use the space you want to install new carpet in. For spaces where you entertain a lot, or children and pets spend a lot of time in you may want to consider either a stain resistant carpet or a waterproof carpet. Carpet is made to be stylish as well as functional in your home or office setting. Carpet is still a popular flooring option because of its unmatched comfort and your ability to tell the difference as soon as you take a step on it.

How do you find the right balance between performance and style? The most important thing you need to do is to choose the right type of carpet. There are five main types: level loop, patterned, textured, frieze, and plush.
